Australia Travel Special Itinerary:
Day 1 – Bullo River Station - EASTERN KIMBERLY
Meet in Darwin at the General Aviation terminal for your air charter flight direct to Bullo River Station, departing at approximately 0900am. This flight will take approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
Within the Australian context the words ‘cattle station’ conjure a very special image. It involves hot thirsty plains, teeming wildlife, strong bronzed rivers, a vast sky and dusty stock camps where horse and stock skills are very much alive – and Bullo River Station fits like a glove. This is a Top End cattle station from the classic mould – half a million acres of grassy plains with 8500 Brahman-cross cattle and many more wallabies, brown rivers where crocodiles lurk on the muddy banks, rugged hills inscribed with Aboriginal rock art, termite mounds, boab trees, stock horses, wild buffalo – and a few great yarns to tell. If you are looking for somewhere to experience life, work and play on an Outback cattle station it does not come any better than this.
Situated in the top north-western corner of the Northern Territory in what is referred to as the East Kimberley, Bullo River Station is not a holiday ranch rather a working commercial cattle station, complete with horses, muddy four wheel drives, bulldozers, road graders, trucks, a helicopter and plane, stock camps and a colourful crew of ringers or stockmen. This is one of the most fascinating aspects of the property. The station offers a front seat view on the huge range of activities that are associated with the running of an Outback cattle station.
Accommodation is double/twin rooms with ensuite. The accommodation is set about 30 metres away from the main homestead in a tasteful simple block design. The homestead is situated on an open plain with views of the wilderness and Baobab trees; the accommodation also has a swimming pool.

Day 2 & 3 – Bullo River Station-EASTERN KIMBERLY
Arise and breathe in the Outback air! Today you will continue to explore this amazing property.
Take in your surroundings and for anyone who wants to learn some real Aussie bushcraft, from cracking a bullwhip to roping cattle aboard a bull catcher. There are many other activities to enjoy on the property including fishing for Barramundi along a lovely stretch of the Bullo River – even the novice fisherman are guaranteed an action packed day matching wits with Australia’s most famous fighting fish. Enjoy tours of Aboriginal art sites, cruise down the Gorge by boat while taking in the landscape that is northern Australia. Bushwalks, bird and wildlife watching or travel to scenic vantage spots to perhaps sketch or paint – the choices are plentiful. Picnic lunches are enjoyed by peaceful billabongs or under the shade of the magnificent boab trees. Each activity is tailored to your wishes.
Take a helicopter ride and become familiar with this awesome property. There are several large freshwater swimming holes and waterfalls high up on the escarpment away from the crocodiles, which can only be accessed by helicopter. Witness the Bullo River, which meanders for over 50 miles through a spectacular valley on the property. The river runs from the lush fresh water of the Bullo Gorge to the mighty saltwater tidal Victoria River. This is a wonderful way to explore parts of the property that are inaccessible by any other means.
In the evenings return to the homestead and help yourself to a glass of wine or hard earned beer. Grab a comfortable seat as dusk falls, turning the sky magenta and pink. Witness the boabs around the homestead become dark silhouettes and know that you have just experienced a truly magical part of Australia. Dine on Barramundi, hopefully one you have caught yourself, or enjoy the taste of free-range, grass fed, prime beef. After dinner stargaze into the clear, dark, pollution free skies and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this true Outback.

Day 4 – Bullo River Station/Faraway Bay - THE KIMBERLEY’S
“Its amazing country and it really does capture you” says Marlee and you will understand what she means as you wake for your final morning at Bullo River Station.
Following breakfast you will bid farewell to your new friends at Bullo River Station. Your charter flight will be ready to take you directly to Faraway Bay, departing at approximately 0830am, with flight time being approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The plane ride hugs the spectacular Kimberley coast for a short period before flying inland above a myriad of ravines and sandstone pinnacles. Landing at the strip you will be met by your host and transported by 4WD vehicle for the final few kilometres to The Bush Camp.
Spectacularly isolated, your bush-style cabin has a 180-degree view of the ocean. Eagle Lodge is the main building, which comprises the relaxing lounge and dining area that overlooks the Cliffside freshwater plunge pool and the magnificent Faraway Bay. After taking in the views and settling into your accommodation you will have the option of being taken in one of the smaller boats to try your hand at some fishing. View the amazing rock formations, visit a beach made of shells and enjoy a picnic lunch. Arrive back at Faraway Bay camp in time for a cooling swim in the pool with champagne or cool drinks before dinner.
Following dinner sit and listen to the silence or watch the stars dancing in the jet-black sky, or the full moon's startling appearance over the hills behind.

Day 5 – Faraway Bay - KIMBERLEY COAST
Sunrise at 5:30am slowly lights up Faraway Bay; enjoy a leisurely breakfast at 7:00am (which gives time for early risers to explore or walk along the beach).
This morning you will be taken out in the 13-metre cruiser Diamond Lass along the spectacular coast to the King George River, to what Bruce (host) calls his “jewel in the crown”. For the 11 kilometre journey upstream, the river winds through a narrowing rock chasm, hemmed in by giant red sandstone walls. As the cruiser glides along the river, egrets, pelicans, and darters erupt from the banks, gradually gaining height until they can escape the canyon walls. All of this ending with the grand twin waterfalls!
If the falls are flowing its time for an invigorating fresh water shower as the Diamond Lass edges up the rock face and directly under the waterfall. After the powerful natural spa, lunch is served on board. After lunch, if you are feeling fit, you may decide to hike to the top of the waterfalls to get a true appreciation of the size and majesty. Alternatively, try fishing in the mangrove creeks or at the mouth of the King George River where you can go into a smaller boat. Those who don't want to go fishing can sunbathe on board Diamond Lass.
The cliffs are incredible. As it steps down from the coastal escarpment, the King George River has spent millions of years gouging a passage through the sandstone, and dramatic as it is nothing prepares you for the moment you round the final bend and confront the awesome majesty of the King George Falls.
Return to camp for a well-earned evening drink and then be waited on as the last rays dance across the rocks and water in a kaleidoscope of colour.
Faraway Bay (B,LD)
Day 6 – Faraway Bay - KIMBERLEY COAST
The daily routine has now been set but today you go by boat to visit a fresh water-swimming hole at the base of a trickling waterfall. Access involves walking over some fairly large rocks but an 80 yr old has done it with lots of assistance and encouragement! Rubber soled lightweight canvas shoes are suitable, or just plain bare feet the rocks are smooth. Swim, climb up the waterfall, watch the water monitor sunbathe on the rocks, and then enjoy a picnic lunch. On the way home try a spot of fishing for Mangrove Jacks in the mangrove creeks. As the lodge may need some smaller fish for the evening meal.
There are many activities on offer to fill your days at Faraway Bay from fishing, spectacular galleries of Aboriginal Rock Art, idle beachcombing. The bird life is phenomenal, and there are whales, turtles and dolphins in the sea and crocodiles sunning themselves on the beaches. A favourite excursion is a trip to Monitor Pool, a deep green pool of fresh water shaded by paperbarks and enclosed on three sides by steep red walls that rise sheer for 80 metres.
Back at Faraway Bay catch up with the photographs, and sit and admire the setting sun, or take a stroll along the beach, or swing in the hammock.

Day 7 – Faraway Bay - KIMBERLEY COAST
Following breakfast, say your farewells to the team at Faraway Bay before transferring to the private airstrip for your air charter flight direct to Darwin, departing at approximately 0900am. This flight will take approximately 2 hours.
